The Lincoln County Sheriff Office is empowered by the Mississippi Legislature to provide law enforcement for over 35,000 people in the county and municipalities within the county of Lincoln. The Sheriff is the chief law enforcement officer for the county and utilizes Deputy Sheriffs for assistance in the role of public peace. The department conducts general law enforcement work as well as special programs for proactive community safety. The Brookhaven Police Department provides protection services to city residents, but the sheriff’s department has jurisdiction in all locations.
